National Tax Dialogue (NTD)

Fostering policy discussions on taxation in Africa.

Promoting tax awareness among students.

Selecting ambassadors to promote tax education and voluntary compliance.

Recognizing voluntary tax compliance

Supporting small businesses in maintaining proper tax records.

Training assemblies to mobilize domestic revenue.

Educating citizens on the use of tax revenue.

An initiative to use sports and football to demystify taxation, and make taxation a national development issue where the national team, the Black stars; financed by the national covers will get to understand and pay their taxes, and also serve as ambassadors for High Networth Individuals in Ghana national transformation agenda

Target Audience

  • Informal sector actors in Africa.
  • Tax administrators and policymakers.
  • Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs).
  • SMEs and civil society organizations.
  • Young people and students.

Expected Outcomes

  • Increased voluntary compliance among informal sector actors.
  • Informed tax policy decisions for African governments.
  • Enhanced tax literacy among citizens and businesses.
  • Strengthened revenue mobilization by MMDAs.
ACTEP will launch its programs in Ghana as a pilot country, focusing on:
 
1. Raising Revenue from the Informal Sector:
  • Educating and incentivizing informal sector actors to contribute to tax revenue.
  • Highlighting the importance of taxes through documentaries showcasing past and future uses of tax revenue.
 
2. First Quarter Program:
  • National Tax Dialogue (NTD):
  • Hosting discussions on which taxes should be introduced, canceled, or reduced.
  • Organizing dialogues in Accra, Kumasi, and Tamale.
  • Producing a policy document to advise the Government of Ghana based on the outcomes of these dialogues.
 
3. Follow-Up Programs:
  • National Tax Quiz (NTQ): Promoting tax awareness among students.
  • National Tax Awards (NTA): Recognizing voluntary tax compliance.
  • National Tax Pageant (Mr. and Miss Tax Ghana): Selecting ambassadors to promote tax education and motivation.
  • Capacity Building Trainings: Supporting local assemblies and SMEs in revenue mobilization and tax literacy.

ACTEP is committed to making taxation understandable, fair, and impactful for national development, starting with Ghana in 2025.
