Africa’s Premier Institution for Tax Education and Policy
ACTEP is dedicated to enhancing tax capacity, promoting fairness, and transforming tax systems through innovative education, cutting-edge research, and advocacy. Founded to address the challenges of tax evasion and domestic resource mobilization in Africa, we are committed to fostering economic justice and sustainable development.
Our Story
In November 2024, a visionary entrepreneur and tax strategist, Mr. Christopher K. Beyereh, conceived an innovative idea to address the pervasive tax challenges plaguing African countries. The spark that ignited this concept was the alarming low tax-to-GDP ratio in most African nations, coupled with the widespread lack of understanding about tax issues among citizens.
Determined to bridge this knowledge gap, Mr. Beyereh teamed up with like-minded Pan-Africanist, Chief Siita Sofo Hissan. Together, they sought to demystify taxation and promote a culture of tax literacy across the continent. This shared vision led to the birth of the Africa Center for Tax Education and Policy (ACTEP).
ACTEP was formally registered in Ghana in December 2024 and commenced operations in January 2025. As the founder and Director, Mr. Beyereh holds a 70% beneficiary interest, while Chief Siita Hissan Sofo, his co-Director, holds a 30% beneficiary interest.
Since its inception, ACTEP has embarked on a mission to educate, inform, and advocate for effective tax policies and practices in Africa. Through various programs and activities, including publishing insightful tax-related articles, ACTEP is steadily making strides in promoting tax literacy and addressing the tax challenges facing African countries.
